Choosing Between Black Rubber and Tan Silicone
Both carry the same stainless steel insert and both are latex free. The difference is feel.
- Black latex-free rubber: Firmer, with a higher-friction bite surface that resists slipping against enamel. The better choice where a stable, non-slip grip matters most.
- Tan silicone: Softer against enamel and opposing restorations, which is more comfortable on long appointments and with anxious or pediatric patients. Silicone also tolerates repeated high-temperature sterilization cycles particularly well, and the tan color is less visually stark in patient-facing settings and clinical photography.
