Description

Rapid-Vascularizing Cancellous Allograft for Contained Defects

Bioviva Mineralized Cancellous Bone Allograft is all cancellous — the porous, trabecular fraction — without a cortical component. That open architecture vascularizes quickly, which is what you want in a contained defect where the walls already provide space maintenance and the priority is rapid cellular ingrowth.

Particle size is 250–1000 microns, supplied in a 0.5cc vial.

Key Features and Benefits

  • 100% cancellous: Open trabecular structure for rapid vascular and cellular ingrowth.
  • Fast incorporation: Higher surface area and porosity than a cortical-containing blend.
  • 250–1000 micron particles: Predictable handling and packing.
  • AATB accredited, FDA registered: Processed under accredited tissue bank standards.
  • Room temperature storage: Five-year shelf life.

Clinical Applications

  • Contained extraction sockets and socket preservation
  • Periodontal intrabony defects
  • Implant site development in contained defects
  • Sinus elevation where rapid vascularization is prioritized
  • Peri-implant defect repair

Tissue Sourcing and Safety

  • Donors screened and selected under documented donor verification and collection protocols
  • Processed by an FDA-registered, AATB-accredited tissue bank
  • Gamma irradiated and sterile packaged
  • Validated cleaning and quality assurance procedures for tissue cleanliness
  • 100% bone — no synthetic extenders or carriers
  • Five-year shelf life from date of processing

Why Choose Cancellous Over a Cortical Mix

The decision comes down to containment. In a well-contained defect with intact walls, space maintenance is already handled by the anatomy, and pure cancellous incorporates faster than a blend. Where walls are missing and the graft has to hold its own volume, the cortical-cancellous mix is the better choice.

Processed to the same AATB standards as Puros, MinerOss and OraGRAFT cancellous offerings, at a lower cost per cc.

What's Included

  • One (1) sterile 0.5cc vial of Bioviva mineralized cancellous bone allograft
  • Lot documentation and tissue tracking information

Warranty and Support

Supplied sterile and single-use. Human tissue allografts are regulated by the FDA as HCT/Ps under 21 CFR Part 1271 and are not returnable once the sterile package is opened. DentalMarketplace coordinates fulfillment, documentation, and support.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I choose cancellous over a cortical-cancellous mix?

A: In contained defects where intact walls already maintain space. Pure cancellous vascularizes faster. Where walls are missing and the graft must hold its own volume, choose the cortical-cancellous mix.

Q: What particle size is supplied?

A: 250 to 1000 microns, the same range as the cortical-cancellous mix.

Q: What volume does it come in?

A: A single 0.5cc vial, which typically suits a molar socket or a contained periodontal defect.

Q: Is this human tissue?

A: Yes. Human bone allograft regulated as an HCT/P under 21 CFR Part 1271, processed by an AATB-accredited, FDA-registered tissue bank.

Q: How is it processed?

A: Donors are screened under documented verification protocols. Tissue is gamma irradiated, sterile packaged, and subject to validated cleaning and quality assurance procedures.

Q: Is cancellous allograft osteoinductive?

A: No. Mineralized allograft is osteoconductive, providing a scaffold for host bone. Demineralized bone matrix, such as Bioviva DBM Putty, is the product class associated with osteoinductive potential.

Q: What is the shelf life?

A: Five years from processing at controlled room temperature. No refrigeration required.

Q: Why is there no barcode on this product?

A: Human tissue allografts are regulated as HCT/Ps rather than devices, placing them outside the FDA Unique Device Identification system. No UDI or GTIN is assigned.

Q: Can it be mixed with the patient's own bone?

A: Combining allograft with autogenous bone is a common technique. The ratio and approach are clinical decisions based on defect characteristics and available autogenous volume.

Q: Is a dental license required to purchase?

A: Yes. Allograft tissue requires dental license verification at checkout under FDA distribution requirements for human tissue products.
